Roots & Shoots Children
Environmental Educational Video Film Showing (At JR-Institute of Information
Technology)
............................................................................
As Dr. Jane Goodall, the Founder of Roots & Shoots believes
that if young
people are involved in decisions impacting the environments in their society,
they can develop creative ways to raise awareness, share information, build capacities,
and work together to help that society through their own initiatives. “The
power of youth is global”.
Through
inspiring words, Roots & Shoots Office in Arusha organizes monthly children
Environmental Education Video film shows for members from kindergarten and
Primary Schools around Arusha. These events are conducted in collaboration with
JR-Institute of Information Technology Arusha and are aimed to inspire long
term promotion of environmental conservation movements by fostering change of
societal perception change in such a way that environments can as well be part
of their day to day’s priority agenda. The programme promotes innovative values
by empowering the school children to contribute to the preservation and fit for
degradation of their natural surroundings.
This
week, Burka and Azimio Roots & Shoots Club members of 89 in total will
attend a two hours session to watch “Mama Mazingira yangu, mazingira yetu
film”. After the show they will form groups to go back to schools to carry
out research by interviewing non-members how they value environments, and what
their environmental perceptions are. The interviews will also involve teachers
and parents home, so that next month the second session entails the
presentations of their findings to the other clubs.
