1. The Roots & Shoots regional secretariat is
pleased to acknowledge the visit of Dr.Jane Goodall, the world known
Primatologist, conservationist and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, Roots
& Shoots, UN-Messenger of Peace in Arusha from 29th,February through
March,2nd. Dr.Jane Goodall, scheduled to address at St.Constantine
International School, Themi suit Hotel and Kondoa Conservation Center, will
also visit the Roots & Shoots office located in sakina, along Nairobi road,
at JR-Institute of information technology, where R&S members from clubs
will present and discuss with projects they do to help improve the
environments, animals and human communities. A special world class film named
Jane`s Journey will also be screened at the Office on the day.

& Shoots Government Volunteer Coordinator appointed.

Lyimo (the Arusha City Mayer) has appointed Mrs. Caroline Kowori, Educational
director of Arusha Municipal as a Roots & Shoots Government Volunteer Coordinator
with effect from 17/02/2012.
3. Roots & Shoots Monthly Youth Forum sponsorships. The board of
directors and management of Tanfoam Arusha have approved a sponsorship of Tshs.1,980,000/=
Equivalent to $.1,300 for the year 2012 in order to facilitate Roots &
Shoots Youth Forums. These are educational gatherings bringing over 100
secondary school students, Roots & Shoots members from different schools
each month in order to present, share, discover and interact what they do to improve
their own environments, animals and human Communities. This is also the time
where students have opportunities to meet face to face with highly qualified
and experiences field experts from areas of environments, animals and Communities.
The forums are technically designs to suits the main pillars facing the world
today in areas of global climate change, global warming, environmental issues, organic
farming, forest management, conservation practices, wetlands management, soil
sciences, environmental laws, Environmental economics ,Animal rights, animal behavior,
wildlife managements, National parks, Fish farming, Birds identifications,
Sustainable agriculture, early pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, Family planning, Tourism,
Drug abuse, traditional culture, Technology and youth, development studies and
International Partnerships
4. Roots & Shoots Tree Nursery promotion sponsorships.
Organizers and the steering committee
of Arusha Christmas Fair has approved one year`s sponsorship of Tshs.500,000/=
amount to be used to promote skills, knowledge and inspirations of members towards
learning about and starting Tree Nurseries in six different Schools around
Arusha. These Schools includes Ngongongare Secondary (USA-RIVER), Mringa
Secondary (Sakina kwa Idd), Ngarenaro Secondary, St. Joseph Ngarenaro, Burka
and Azimio Primarywill raise a total of 10,000 seedlings and will help other
school clubs to learn about the interface between the growing rate of invasive
plants against the native species which are disappearing in the city.
5. Roots & Shoots Office sponsorship. In honor of Dr.Jane`s visit to to st.Constantine
International School, Dr.Jose Maldonald
and management of St. Constantine have approved the support of one meeting
table with six chairs, one couch set, two small shelves and one Computer Desk
top to the Roots & Shoots. This support is glorious and comes at an edible moment in
time where the Office extend prestigious support a Roots & Shoots club at St.Constantine
under the guidance of Mr.Donald Curnado started already to equip the Roots
&Shoots with furniture, and materials. This support will provide enabling working ability of the office and space for drop in Roots &Shoots members visiting the office regularly.
6 .Roots & Shoots friends of Museum group is formed. In collaboration with the
National Museum of Natural History, Roots & Shoots has formed a group of
exceptional students dedicated to assist the Government`s anti-quit department
by providing interpretive knowledge and skills to the Museum visitors through
establishment of botanical garden at the Museum. This garden will help the
Museum to bring a collection of rare and species near to extinction to be
raised, and also raise medicinal plants in order to help people understand plants
that cure different diseases. This group is
made of Students from JR-Colledge, Arusha Secondary, Elerai Secondary, Iliboru
Secondary, St. Joseph Primary, Mringa Secondary.
